MLB Draft Recap
Let me preface this blog with saying that as a biased Red Sox fan, this year's draft sucked. Not only did the Rangers take Jack Leiter at number 2 so we couldn't get him, but they also didn't take Kumar at 4. They did take the highest ranked prospect in this year's draft, high school shortstop Marcelo Mayer, so I can't be all that mad, but I would have liked for them to take a household name like Leiter or Kumar in the first round. Jaden Hill was ranked number 36 in this year's draft and the Red Sox had the number 40 pick for the second round, so I had high hopes that they would finally take a pitcher. Long story short, they didn't; they took Florida outfielder Jud Fabian, again, not a bad pick, but not my favorite. Instead of going to the Red Sox, Hill went to my favorite National League team, the Colorado Rockies at 44 in the second round.
