Two 10s are Better Than One
If I never see another Auburn gymnast in my life, including, but not limited to, Suni Lee, I will die a happy man. I know she's good, but her bars performance was not a 10; a 9.950 maybe, but was I impressed? Not really. And as far as the rest of them, a bunch of obnoxious asses I've ever had the misfortune of seeing in person. During every one of our beam routines, they had to chant so loudly. Absolutely no respect in our own house. We didn't do that during their beam routines although we should have. And one more thing before I get into the analysis of the meet- why were we cheering for not only Suni Lee, but every Auburn gymnast? I get that Suni competed for the United States in the summer Olympics, but who the hell are the rest of them and why were we cheering for them? They even cheered for Suni when she got a 10. SHE IS THE ENEMY. Let's cheer for Alabama during football season while we're at it. It doesn't matter anyway, we won and scored twice as many 10s as they did.
On vault, first and foremost, even though Auburn beat us on vault, Haleigh Bryant still casually scored a 10, which is more than what Suni Lee could say on vault. We had two vaulters, Haleigh Bryant and Kiya Johnson, who were able to match or do better than Suni's score. She wasn't even the best on her own team. What a scrub.
On bars, yes, Suni Lee scored a perfect 10, however, I believe she got bonus points for being "an Olympic medalist". Her routine was good, great even, but not a perfect 10 worthy. Not only that, but I think if Suni's routine was good enough for a 10, then Sami Durante's routine should have been good enough for a 10. It was just as good as Suni's. Regardless, we beat Auburn on bars by 0.025, so who's the real winner here?
Once again, the judge kiss Suni's ass on beam and give her a 9.975. Why aren't they kissing our asses? Our beam routines were just as good as hers. Especially our very own beam queen Aleah Finnegan, not to mention Christian Desiderio who scored an outstanding 9.925. I think both of them were just as good as Suni and should have scored at least a 9.950 each. But why would the judges want to embarrass their precious little Suni like that? With Suni's 10 and Aleah and Christina deserving higher scores, Auburn was able to beat us on beam by 0.100.
Finally on floor, my favorite event of the night, Kiya Johnson scored a perfect 10 without even needing to do so. LSU already locked up the meet win before her performance (or rather during her performance), but that didn't stop her from giving it her absolute all. Which is good because it doesn't matter how many wins and losses you have, all that matters is your own average across meets and she helped us increase our average with that performance. We had four gymnast to match or score higher than Suni on floor (9.950+), even though it should have been five. The judges claim Aleah stepped out on her last pass, but the jury is still out on that one. Oh wait, I'm getting word that I am the jury and I have the verdict. It turns out Aleah didn't step out and the judges are just cowards. So in conclusion, Suni is overrated.
This was a real nail bitter of a meet. Even though records don't matter, it's still nice to win in your own home. After every rotation except the last, no one lead by more than 0.050. After the first rotation, LSU lead by 0.025, after the second, Auburn lead by 0.050, after the third, the meet was tied, and finally after the last rotation, LSU pulled off a victory with a score of 197.975-197.750. Before I wrap up, I want to give a shoutout to Haleigh and Kiya who not only scored 10s, but also our two all arounds and scored 39.675 and 39.575 respectively compared to Suni's 39.825. This averages out to 9.956 for Suni, a 9.919 for Haleigh, and a 9.894 for Kiya. They showed that even though they aren't Olympic medalist, they can still hang with those who are.
